As our name suggests, we encourage each person we educate to influence another person to commit to changing an unhealthy behavior, which results in

How We Work

Each One Teach One's "Do Your Part" project targets at-risk African American women of childbearing age (13-45) and their male partners (13 and older), especially men re-entering society from prison.

E1T1's strategy is to implement the Real AIDS Prevention Project (RAPP) in three communities located within the zip codes with the highest reported HIV/AIDS rates in New Castle County, Delaware. RAPP is a community level intervention that includes peer-led community education. It uses individual and group-level interventions, along with outreach to promote behavioral change and HIV testing.

RAPP is a research based intervention funded by the CDC that has proven to effectively increase condom use by women and their partners. It also has succeeded in changing community norms to make practicing safer sex more acceptable while involving the entire community in the effort of reducing HIV infection.

The project is implemented in 4 stages:

  1. The hiring and training of staff
  2. A 12-step community assessment
  3. The implementation of RAPP's core components -
    • Peer networks
    • Staged-based encounter
    • Role model stories
    • Community networks
    • Small group activities
  4. Project evaluation

What Makes the Project Unique?

Recognizing the importance of offering services that are interesting and relevant, Each One Teach One specializes in “Edu-tainment”, a combination of education and entertainment. The organization knows how to engage minority and underserved populations, many of whom are not being served by conventional health education programs.  We make learning fun!
